openscad files from mendel90

hi all,
i am building a mendel 90 but have a very hard time opening the main.scad
i have no experience with python and open scad.
can anyone give a short idiot proof explanation of that:

To view the model of the whole machine, open scad\main.scad. It will take several minutes to render (about about 8 minutes on my computer) but after that you can pan and zoom it at reasonable speed and changes takes less time to render. (Note: main.scad will only render correctly if conf\machine.scad exists, which is created by the make_machine.py script.)

thanks a lot,

michael

Download and install OpenSCAD from here: [www.openscad.org]

Download the Mendel90 files from github using the "download as zip" button here: [github.com]

Unzip them, run openscad and use the file open menu option to navigate to where you put the files and open the main.scad in the scad directory.

Press F5 and wait for it to render. You can then pan, rotate and zoom the 3D view with the mouse.

You don't have to worry about Python and make_machine if you only want to view the Dibond version as conf\machine.scad now defaults to that.

You can look at sub-assemblies by opening the corresponding scad files. To get an exploded view edit scad\conf\config.scad and changed exploded to 1.
