Cooling the JHead

Cooling the JHead
March 21, 2014 06:49PM
When I first started printing, my JHead would continually jam.
Since I've installed a fan to cool the JHead, I have not had a single jam!
I used to have the fan stuck to the bottom with double sided tape, but
have since made this little mount for it. I just epoxied the mount to the
bottom... Works GREAT! It's a 40mm fan and has enough clearance for everything.

I Would like to incorporate it into the actual X Carriage, but don't have a clue
about Openscad. If someone could amend the openscad file would be great!
I've included the STL file if you'd like to give it a go. M90Fanmount.stl

I used this one:

this is my fan shroud which might need modifying for a jhead:

And here's a good tutorial on openscad which makes it quite fast to learn the essentials:

Ah crap LOL
and I just printed a spare X Carriage too sad smiley
Thanks, I'll keep this in mind for a future build.

I wonder if we could start a running thread with 'public' M90 updates here?

Sorry, I don't have a thingiverse account, I posted the STL above. What format would you like it?
I guess this still works for those that don't want to print a full X Carriage. smiling smiley

Opens OK for me in Cura 14.03
I did a similar mod to my Mendel90, but i just used some velcro tape to stick the fan to the carriage cool smiley

I had used carpet tape before, but after about 2 months it fell off.
It ended up failing during a print and falling between printed parts, knocking everything off!
So that's why I made this piece. I needed the assurance that wasn't going to happen again!
