Print Problems / Slice Settings

Hi Guys

I have not used my Mendel90 for a couple of months due to work. Last weekend I spent some time getting it back up and running. Essentially it's just sat dormant, so I cleaned it up and checked it all over.

I need to print another Wades Idler Block as the current one has a small crack in it. But the prints are coming out poor. See the attached pic:



I've played with the settings a lot in Skeinforge and I can't work out why this is happening? Tried 3 types of filament (all PLA). Tried extruder temps 180-195 degrees. The part sticks well to the glass/kapton bed at 50 degrees.

Any ideas on what I can try next?

I have never seen anything like that before. A guess would be that your PLA has absorbed a lot of moisture and needs drying out.

Thanks. I thought that too, but the red PLA has been in a bag, and in a box, both with silica packs. I'll try again tonight with another type. Perhaps also try ABS.

make sure the nozzle diameter is set to the correct one. i've had a similar problem and it was driving me nuts!

Yes printing filament paths with a cross section too big can cause it to go wiggly.
