Simplify3D Slicer

Does anyone with a Mendel90, preferably a kit from Nophead, use Simplify3D? I watched a youtube review of it last night and I really like the custom support feature, and the ability to do different settings on different parts on the same plate.

    * Dimensional accuracy: Nophead has shown that nearly all slicers, other than Skeinforge, don't create dimensionally accurate holes or nut traps. Do you find that to be the case with Simplify3D?
    * Relative extrusion: Can it output relative-e Gcode?
    * Preset materials: Do you use these or create your own?
    * Anything else you'd like to offer?

Nophead, have you ever given it a look?

No I don't use anything that is not open source for Reprap.

I didn't realize you were a Linux user?

My RepRap machines are all running from various Linux devices at the moment. I do still use Windows to develop on though but all the tools I use for Reprap are open source and will run on Linux.

I have also been eyeing Simplify but three things have been holding me back.

1. The price. For the money, I'd rather purchase Kiss now that Jonathan has apparently been contacted and is still developing.

2. Lack of developer presence in the forums

3. It doesn't, at the moment, support firmware retraction.

Also, I think Sublime would argue the point about other slicers not getting accurate dimensions. [forums.reprap.org]

I got this response about licensing from them

"Your license allows you to install the software on up to 2 different machines that you own. For example, if you wanted to run it on a laptop and a desktop, that would be fine!"

So if you have a friend it looks a bit more affordable...
That manual support placement looks intriguing.

Hmm it does say you have to own both machines, so it's not actually 2 licences. Good point.
It's a bit of an investment and there doesn't seem to be much talk on the reprap forums, I might just stick with Skeinforge for a while.

Also what are the benefits of firmware retraction? Ashley says above it's not supported.
