Problem printing Mendel90 Parts
June 22, 2014 12:41PM
Hi,

my Mendel90 had a crack on the extruder. So i decided to print a new one. Afaik i´ve read somewhere in a post from Nophead, that the Mendel90-Parts are designed to be printed with a Layerheight of 0.4. So i used a 0.6mm Nozzle and printed the extruder Parts with a layer height of 0.4. When the print was finished, i noticed that the printed parts have small gaps when there are Holes near the perimeter of the object, or at the edges of the Object. (See attached Pics).

The parts were sliced in Skeinforge using the following settings:

Edge Width over Height: 1.5
Layer Height: 0.4
Perimeter Flow Rate Multiplier: 0.857

It seems that Skeinforge calculates the width of the outlines too big. Where the holes are near the outline, there are only 2 lines used to cover a gap of about 2mm (see attached Pic). Is there any parameter in Skeinforge which could be causing this problem besides Edge Width over Height?

I print everything with a single outline. Looks like you have two outlines.

Also I use a 0.45mm nozzle for 0.4 layers, not 0.6mm. I think that is why your extrusions are tending to round off sharp corners leaving the small gaps at the sides.

The large gaps at the end are due to there not being enough room for double outlines. Skeinforge fails to put infill in gaps between outlines. It only fills inside the inner outlines.

How can i print with a single outline? I haven´t found any parameter in Skeinforge to configure the number of outlines.

On the Fill tab change the values under - Extra Shells - to zero. This will print only one shell for each case.
