Printing timing belts

Has anyone tried this, if so any advice? I was thinking of printing wider belts for a bigger printer.

Timing belts for linear motion need steel or Kevlar cords embedded in them so that they have negligible stretch.

That makes sense. My first attempt came out dismally. I think I would need a finer nozzle and a long print at 0.1 layer height anyway. The polyurethane I tried has about 10% stretch :-(

Should be OK for a drive belt, but not timing.

Somebody has already tried that, might find inspiration from him.

If you're really into printing belts, you can get kevlar or glass fibres unwoven. This stuff is commonly referred to as "rovings", for example here: [shop1.r-g.de] "Kevlar" is a brand name for Aramid fibres.

Then you have to find a way to insert these rovings into your print ever other layer, of course. Printing a mold might work better.
