Bed can't maintain temperature

Bed can't maintain temperature

After printing for over a year, this is the first time I've noticed this. For some reason my bed can only achieve 111C during the print.

It seems that maybe this is because the print head and motors are drawing too my power from the PSU, but can anyone comment?

Or maby its just because when the bed starts wafting back and forward in the cool air it loses heat quicker than when its stationary? Do you have any insulation under the bed?

I assume you don't have the fan running?

The load does not increase over time, so I think either the PSU maybe faulty or you have a bad connection that is heating up. Or possibly if it can only just make it the movement of the bed is enough to cool it, although it should be able to hold 130C with the bed moving in a warm room.

Measure the 12V at the Melzi and see if it drops over time.

I don't think the fan was on, but it is possible. I had just printed another object that I had to enforce fan always on to get a good print, and I might have left it on.

I am printing right and the bed is staying at 130C so that's okay. Problem solved I guess.

I would check the tightness of the screws holding the heatbed connections on the Melzi anyway. just in case it is an intermittent fault.
