Backlash or something else in print?

Hi All,

3D printing noob here! I Just finished a Mendel90 kit. Major props to Nophead and Mary, excellent customer service and the build went smoothly. Just a quick question...

My first print of the included android was pretty much perfect. For my second print I wanted to check out Slic3r and some calibration prints so I made an STL of a couple 25mm cubes plus a 5mm high, connected platform (see attached). The first 5mm went great. But after the shelf was printed, the walls started to get wider in both x and y as it finished the cube. The first 5mm of print were dimensionally accurate (25mm square to better than .1mm accuracy).

I checked the gcode in an online viewer and I didn't see these layers so I think it was sliced correctly. There are some extra features on the backside of the second cube, not visible in the pic, if this helps.

Is this backlash, something loose, something else? Thanks for the help!

Hi, have you tried the same object in another slicer? It would determine if it was a slicing or machine issue?

I'd check all belts, screws etc anyway just in case. I'm no expert but hopefully this helps anyway!
