X-Axis stuck backward
January 31, 2015 07:03PM
Hello,

using a Mendel90, have some trouble, found not specially that describe this situation.

When i try to print some modells, x-axis stuck when printhead goes from right to left. issue is only on this direction on this axis. Replace power supply, not changing, replace stepper on x-axis not changing.
Just when i try to print in debug mode (without heating elements and extruder stepper) will running fine. Tryd with actually firmware marlin and repetier and using Repetier Host.

Thanks for helping me

Sometimes the linear bearings can seize in one direction if they run out of oil. Remove the belt and see if the carriage moves smoothly. If not try oiling them.

Thanks for answer, i tryd 4-5 times in debug mode of repetier firmware, there never stop.
When i printing in normal mode and printhead stop its most on half way, when head goes in left direction.
Its also not functional, if i using only extruder without heating bed. Replace Ramps Board and Polullu nothing changed.

I'm confused.

The firmware I provide has the endstops disabled except for homing and the Melzi has filtering on the endstop signals. RAMPS doesn't have filtering, so if you have the firmware configured to enable them during printing then it might be crosstalk in the ribbon cable between the extruder signals and the X limit switch. The wire order should avoid that but again you have a non standard cable setup so you could have that problem.

Yes i configured the home and end stops just only for x-axis, for z and y only home positions. Original cable was burned, because while print ABS there need to much energy for temperature extruder. What do you think is best way? Switch off endstops or reorganize cables?

End stops should only be enabled for homing. In Configuration_adv.h you should have:

#define ENDSTOPS_ONLY_FOR_HOMING // If defined the endstops will only be used for homing

After homing the soft limits should prevent you reaching the endstops again so it is safe to ignore them. A false trigger while the axis is going towards the switch will cause it to stop dead.

Are you using the standard cable layout? That separates the limits and the thermistor from the motor signals with ground in between.

Yes i think so, its standard cable layout, stops, steppers and extruder using separate gnd. Only different is replace original cable with 0,75 for extruder.

Not sure why you would need to do that. The specified cable is 1A per core and three cores are used for the heater.

There is a 15 vein cable stepper 8, fan 2, sensor 2. Using in first construct without fan 3 vein per pole for extruder and cable burnt.
After them replace extruder cable bei 0,75.

I will try to compile firmware again and give a feedback, thanks anyway for your help.
