Mendel90 - Calibration, Improve Print Quality
March 03, 2015 07:04AM
So, after finally building my Mendel90.... (I have only had the kit collecting dust for 2 years.. oops!)

I am getting to grips with calaibrating the machine. spent around 7 hours on the things yesterday tinkering.
I am currently using MatterControl and enabled Auto Bed Leveling following the setup and firmware changes which greatly improved the print quality.

I have the filiment setting to 2.86, quality to 0.2mm (standard) & infil level at 30%. (standard) *Settings in mattercontrol.

I have attached a few images (see below) of what I have printed so far and im looking for help to understand whats causing certain issues, as I managed to print a calibration block and clamp out almost perfectly but a few other things I have printed have a few defects and im not sure what I have to tweak to rectify them.

If anyone could give me a nudge in the right direction that would be great! Thank You.. (Also if anyone is in driving distance to mansfield (just outside nottingham, UK) ill supply the beer & pizza if you improve my print quality lol!

1. The MatterControl Calibration block, came out perfect..

2. The Bed leveling clamp, came out perfect..

3. Link Dude, He printed quite well but on the inside hand left hand (right when printed) has a few bobbles But the other side printed well.?

3. Raspberry Pi case Flap.. - Had issues with the logo.. but the rest printed ok.

I think the main issues are that your slicer is not clever enough to not start its filament runs where there is a steep overhang. Skeinforge is certainly guilty of this. I am not sure how well other slicers handle it.
