direct drive extruder on the repository
January 12, 2017 08:30PM
Hi,
I've been using my trusty sturdy mendel90 since 2013. 3mm filaments/extruder.
I'd really like to use the direct drive extruder Chris (nophead) added to the
mendel90 repository, but I'm having trouble compiling/exporting the individual .stl files.
Anyone managed to do this?
Thanks!

The direct.scad file contains the extruder, with a jhead by default. I need it with a mk8 hobbed gear and e3d block. I tried reconfiguring the machine and running the compiling scripts, but I can only get the standard wade extruder, just cant export the direct files for printing. What am I missing?
Help?

You have to change the extruder type in the dibond_config file to Direct17
hot_end = e3dv6;
extruder = Direct17;
To export single stl files you can do
stls dibond direct_extruder.stl
stls dibond direct_idler_lever.stl

How do I generate an assembled / exploded view of the direct drive extruder and hot end?

There's a couple of images on the blog post (http://hydraraptor.blogspot.com/2016/01/mendel90-github-catch-up.html) but I'm still trying to make sense of how it all goes together.
