What publishing/typesetting software was used in issue #1?

I am also a typesetter and I use LaTeX for my works. I would really appreciate if someone answers smiling smiley

Thanks in advance

The first issue was done using adobe tools. Illustrator, Indesign and photoshop.

We are considering the opensorce alternatives, Inkscape, Scribus and Gimp.

I used to use Scribus as I am an opensource supporter in order to typeset ubuntistas.gr (Ubuntu Greek LoCo Magazine) but I recently switched to LaTeX (as I mention above) which, in my opinion, provides much better results. I asked that question because I wanted you inquire me about potential typesetting software(s) in order to take them into consideration during my work smiling smiley

Scribus looks nice. I only had experience with InDesign before and that was brief. Scribus was pretty intuitive to get started with (I'm laying out a picture book ATM). Might be worth looking into if you don't have access to higher priced tools.

However, some things are VERY VERY difficult to accomplish
