Engineering and Materials Development Manager

INDMATEC GmbH is a materials development firm strong in the fused deposition modeling (FDM) 3D Printing technology. The firm is looking for an Engineering and Materials Development Manager to be based in Karlsruhe, Germany. This candidate will join the Founder’s Management team.

Job Description:
As a manager, you will apply your engineering background as well as know-how in the area of materials handling and application to lead projects involving 3D printer optimization and materials processing. The projects may consist of multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, hardware-, software- developers, scientists, quality assurance managers, machine operators, materials producers, technicians and people involved in the development of products. Your role will entail defining project requirements and developing realistic schedules for implementation.

Responsibilities:
* Provide technical capacity to run and manage the FDM 3D Printers operated by INDMATEC GmbH
* Conduct presentations related to 3D Printing technologies
* Implement materials-based goals of the firm especially those related to research, development and processing
* Create partnerships with firms that will complement the market success of INDMATEC’s products
* Develop new market oriented capacities for INDMATEC’s products
* Coordinate activities which will expand INDMATEC’s business reach and strengthen its competitive edge
* Engage customers in a technical business manner
* Provide the organizational know how needed to keep INDMATEC’s 3D lab highly functional
* Preserve the confidentiality of INDMATEC and its customers
* Contribute in the decision making process at INDMATEC
* You will serve as the key point of communication for all projects under your supervision.

Qualification and skills required:
A minimum qualification of Master degree (or equivalent) in Science or Engineering. Proven experience with 3D printing technologies. Strong analytical and problem solving skills with accompanying ability to communicate and document ideas/facts. A science and engineering based appreciation for materials handling and processing. An appreciation for ethics in the experimental field of science and engineering. Ability to handle pressure at the workplace. Strong customer engagement and management of customer expectations. Ability to scope customer requirements and clearly factor these into INDMATEC’s business goals. Prior experience with design tools used in generating 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional objects. Knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite. A working knowledge of LabVIEW will be an advantage. Good German language skills required.

Remuneration package is negotiable but will depend on qualification and experience.
