math expression doesn't work in the wiki

I wanted to have some formulas display nicely by using the MATH statement e.g.

Quote
MATH
\beta = \frac{\ln\left ( \frac{R}{R_{0}} \right )}{(\frac{1}{T + 273.15}) - (\frac{1}{T_{0} + 273.15})}

But this doesn't seem to work in the WIKI! eye rolling smiley

Suggestion: how about you just do what you've done in the forum, which is to take a picture of the formule, and upload that to the wiki page, and embwd the image. the end-users get the same result, which is that they can see you formula. :-)

I'll look at mediawiki math extensions.

If you just use the screenshot method it's not the same result, because end-users can't edit the formula.

No, that is why I wanted to use the math expression supported (or apparently not) by the wiki. If they get it working then I will change it back otherwise it is much more readable as a LaTex math forumala graphic then as a text formula.

I had this problem too, but figured I was just doing something wrong. Glad I'm not the only one... -Matt

I looked at this tonight, and turned on more options in the wiki, and compiled some TeX-related tools, but sadly it still has an issue I have not tracked down while trying to generate the image of the LaTeX formula. So now the wiki says:

Failed to parse (PNG conversion failed; check for correct installation of latex, dvips, gs, and convert): \beta = \frac{\ln\left ( \frac{R}{R_{0}} \right )}{(\frac{1}{T + 273.15}) - (\frac{1}{T_{0} + 273.15})}

Which means it is now at least trying to do the right thing with the LaTeX smiling smiley

smiling bouncing smiley Oh boy, that means your getting close to getting it to work!

I used the on-line LaTeX equation generator to generate the images that are currently in the wiki.
