Ongoing spam attack in general, 500+ messages so far...

Please look into it ASAP

... this seems to be a spammer or group from South-Korea - normal "user-editing" modules aren't possible with this amount of spams, but the administration software hase some to handle mass-posts.

Seems there were actually several admins handling this winking smiley

I've deleted around 600+ of the remaining posts with the tools and updated the ban list for this pretty uncommon IP, so could be solved for now ...

... the mass-spammers with 200+posts had IP's and email-accounts from south-korea, now they have randomized gmail-accounts, but the same post structure ... seems to be an actual 'wave of interest' confused smiley

The new user registration + captchas seem to have mostly solved the spamming. I found some of the captchas were impossible to solve for a while, especially on my low-cost tablet, but they seem to have got easier recently.

Having to solve the captcha for every post is time consuming. Can either of the following be configured in Phorum:

1. Only use the captcha if the post contains external links. I think spammers are generally trying to creating link farms.

2. Only require the captcha for users who have been members for e.g. < 1 month or posted less than e.g. 30 messages.

... the captcha settings allows only three settings - not used / for anonymous users / for all users

As some of the spammers went through the captchas too (they are humans, no bots), I've reset it back for anonymous, but started to ban some of the most used chars.

Let's see, how this works ...
