Seeing GregL's spool holder design that is similar to mine I thought it about time we had a thread about Spool Holders in general, as there are other bits n' bobs all over other threads, it would be nice to collect them all in one place for others to compare.
I've played with various designs but settled on one similar to GregL's as its simple and flexible. The centre planetary bearing is a Customized version of one originally designed by Thingiverse user Emmett [www.thingiverse.com], its 100mm diameter with 8 planets and a 40mm sun gear for supporting the reel, I also added a 5mm recess so the moving planets don't touch the surface its resting on.
