3 nuts to index the flats, one fixating the screw, two locked together as vertical guide for the file, one washer to set the hight and to protect the edge of the file

Do I understand it correctly that you made a long nut (for the Z drive) out of some brass tubing? Looks pretty neat.

correct, D9x20mm brass nut for the treaded Z-rod, drilling and treading is easy and so is filing the flats if you do it this way
