Ormerod crash during print
June 09, 2014 02:59PM
Hi,

i try to print my first own object. Everythink looks fine exept that the printer crashes during the print. It simply stops and doesn't respond to commands any more ( if i reconnect the usb cable, which is not pluged in during the print).
I printed from the SD-Card. I used Slic3r with the Ormerod configs. If i tried it again with the same gcode, it stops at the same position. I tried to slice the object again but i change some options like the fill structure to honeycomb. With the new file
it stops at a different position than before with the older file. The gcode file is about 6MB. I attached a part of the gcode file where the print stops every time.

I updated the firmware and the printer is connected to the UPS of our building.
Any help will be appreciated

Hi Alexander, it sounds like the printers buffer might have got full of reports to the USB to me.
DC42 would be better to answer this, but if you didn't have M111 S0; Debug off in your config.g file then I'll guess that was it.
The Buffer has a limited size, and when it fills up the printer stops.
It's the reports that come up on the right hand side of Pronterface in the report window.

I won't see comments in threads, as I move around to much.

If you are using the RRP 0.65e firmware, then there is a known problem with high extruder feed rates, such as the one that appear in the retraction operation in that gcode. Either reduce the extruder feed rate, or try my 0.65f-dc42 firmware and 0.90 web interface (see separate thread).
