Gnaving away the threaded rodsad smiley

Hi Guys,

I'm just posting to know it anyone has experinced that the nut carrying the x-axis, has started to gnav away the threaded rod, and why? (see picture: [www.dropbox.com])
Where I supposed to grease up the nut? Have I done something wrong during assembly?
And does anyone have a idea for a fix?

Whenever move up the z-axis by 10 mm og more it becomes really obvious, sounds really bad, that its grinding those threads good. And it seems that the bolt has forced itself to some extra space, as it now is able to turn a couple of degrees freely.

That's a very common problem.

I have had great experience with a stainless steel rod and a long brass-nut. Both things can be found on Ebay at very reasonable prices.

The long brass-nut can be hard to find. I have been using this one for a couple of moths without any problems: [cgi.ebay.co.uk]

Make sure to oil/grease your rod a little bit.

Best regards,

Carsten

Same here, I am using the standard threaded rod and the brass long nut from ebay, working great so far.

If the rod is worn, replace that as well as fitting the brass long nut or it will chew the new nut pretty quickly.

I use 3-in-1 oil on my rod.
