List of crimps used in Ormerod 2

As an update to the original thread here [forums.reprap.org] , Ormerod 2 uses many of the same connectors as Ormerod 1. The main difference is a switch to Molex KK100/KK254 compatible crimps and housings for connections to the Duet. We now ship Duets with keyed headers, at long last!

Wire to Duet board crimps and housings:
Crimp: [www.toby.co.uk]
2, 3 and 4-way housing (first three on list): [www.toby.co.uk]

The following should be compatible:
Crimp: [uk.rs-online.com]
2-way housing: [uk.rs-online.com]
3-way housing: [uk.rs-online.com]
4-way housing: [uk.rs-online.com]

Hot end connector, wiring loom side (as Ormerod 1):
Female crimp: Molex 43030-0010 - [uk.rs-online.com]
2x3-way Male housing: Molex 43020-0600 - [uk.rs-online.com]

Hot end connector, hot end side (as Ormerod 1):
Male crimp: Molex 43031-0010 - [uk.rs-online.com]
2x3-way Female housing: Molex 43025-0600 - [uk.rs-online.com]

The same crimps are used for the heated bed thermistor connection. No housing; it's covered with black heatshrink.

Loom connections to motors (as Ormerod 1):
We use a copy of the JST-PH crimp: [www.toby.co.uk] and housing: [www.toby.co.uk]

The following should be compatible:
Housing (plugs into motor): [uk.rs-online.com]
Crimp: [uk.rs-online.com]

It's nice to see that the Duet now uses keyed connectors!

The Molex KK connectors are the same ones that I use on my hot end board. I have found that Rapid Electronics beats RS and Farnell prices, for example the 4 way shell is £0.16 each individually, compared to £0.266 each from RS (in multiples of 5) or £0.246 each from RS (in multiples of 10). Likewise, the crimp pins cost less from Rapid.

If you live in the UK and need one or two of these connectors in a hurry, and don't mind paying through the nose for them, try your local Maplins.

Toby's prices are even cheaper than those, but then not genuine Molex. Also, no minimum order and cheap carriage. I put RS links in, because many people have accounts with them, plus we have an association with them!
