Almost perfect print...drinking smiley

Hi everyone,

First of all, thanks for your help whenever i needed some because now i'am able to print quite well but not perfect, this is why i would need some advice.

As you can see on my picture 1, i could print the coathook and the whistle form RepRap really perfectly, really smooth, so from here i conclude my printer is pretty good.

But from the moment i have to use my slic3r settings i don't get it perfect as you can see on my picture 2 and 3. It does print well but it could be better.

So i'm looking for any advice to get it right.

Thanks per advance !

I would say that your extruder temperatures are perhaps a little high, and your retraction setting is perhaps too low. What settings are you using?

Not bad! - looks like you are extruding a bit too much (and remember to measure and adjust in slic3r your filament every time you change) and maybe should retract a bit more (the white thingie) but could be spill-over from over extrusion

Yes could also just be temperature a bit too high or nozzle staying too long over the same object, hard to see from the picture

I am using:

Extruder Temperature: 185 °C (Is it too high for PLA ?)
Bed Temperature: 60°C
Retraction length: 1mm
Extruder multiplier: 1

Your temperatures look OK (I use 195C for the first layer and 185C for the rest), but your retraction is too low. Try increasing it to 4mm.

I'd actually say that the extrusion multiplier is slightly high. This would cause all sorts of issues like uneven outside walls especially if your printer does the outside perimeters from inside to out - excess filament then is pushed outwards.
You're definitely on the right track - looking good!

I'm actually starting a print with retraction to 4mm and extrusion multiplier to 0.95

Let's see how it goes tongue sticking out smiley

I printed the part attached with these settings:

Extrusion Multiplier: 0.95
Extruder retraction: 4mm

Temperatures:

Bed: 60°C
Heater: 185°C

I think i should still decrease my extrusion multiplier because i have not so great walls.

What do you think ?

Yes it do seem a little over extruded, try 0.85 or 0.80

I agree, I think it is still over extruding.
