I have been meaning to ask for a long time.

What is the second figure in brackets that relates to the Z probe sensor height, for example I have just set my probe height to 1.3mm the sensor reading is 518 (524)

How do the two figures relate?

AFAIR, the reading in brackets is the peak phototransistor output when the IR emitter is on, which includes the output due to ambient IR. If it exceeds about 750 then the main reading will be less accurate.
