Z- Probe Reading is 75 Not 950... help!
January 05, 2014 08:40AM
My Z-Probe seemed to be working just fine, now it is giving me a reading of 75 instead of 950 as dictated by the documentation. Needless to say I don't know what to do because if I carry on regardless it just does not work.

When trying to run a print the hotend ends up nearly 2mm off the bed which obviously is a problem.

Any suggestions?

I have:

  • Checked the polarity of the plug to make sure it is correct
  • Re done the Axis compensation to make sure I'm not doing something wrong
  • Made sure there is no incandescent lighting on that could affect the readings of the Z-probe

Has the blue wire disconnected from the duet board?

If you have a DMM, you can check the voltage across the sensor pins at the bottom of the board. There should be nearly 3.3V between the leftmost pair of pins, falling to 1V or even less when the sensor is close to a reflecting surface. There should be a constant voltage of about 1.2V between the rightmost pair of pins.

Managed to sort it out, there was some debris on the sensor... I didn't even think to check for that.
