Hi Tim,

would you attach the first about 50 lines of the generated gcode, than I will have a look at it!?

What happens if you switch to the layer view in Cura?

Cheers, Frank

Morning Frank

When I switch to layer view I see a blank bed, with a few blue lines (presumably a path?) zig-zagging on the left and the layer indication on the bottom right says 41.
I have loaded my_profile and created the gcode file attached

Ok, I think this is possibly a general Cura problem. Have you tried another object? Cura sometimes removes walls completely, if they are too thin.

Hello again

Tried another, more "normal", model and this time it works.

Thanks for that.

Should I avoid walls that thin with Cura or is there a work around?

Hi,

i'm using:

Cura 14.03
firmware 0.57t-dc42 (thanks again!!) (i'll update to the last soon)
Cash plugin dated 23-03-2014
Cash Profile and preference dated 18-3-2014

my doubt is about the setting:

after load the Cash profile and preference on the Cura folder (Win7 C:\Program Files (x86)\Cura_14.03\Cura), when i open Cura i found some settings wrong for the Ormerod (at least i think...):
filament Ø 2.85 (not 1.75???)
printing temperature 220 (ok if ABS but i think too hot for PLA)
bed temperature 70 (ok for PLA but too cold for ABS???)
noozle size 0.4 (not 0.5?)
printing speed 50mm/s (for me it is too quick because the movement remove the initial layer from the bed, but it could be a problem only in my Ormerod and only for some small area pieces)
layer height 0.1 (usually with Slic3r i have 0.24 is that correct or too thin???)
Retraction distance 4.5 (is that ok or it is in conflict with the value on the Plugin???)

please let me know if that setting is ok for you or if there are some problem with the profile and setting loading...
thanks.

I suspect those are just Cash's personal settings, and are things that everyone should be looking at and changing to suit their print anyway rather than using anyone else's defaults. The filament diameter should however always be set to 1.75 (unless you are using a batch of filament with a bad diameter), and I suspect that it is set to 2.85mm to get the extrusion width correct after running a thin wall test. In fact you should keep the filament diameter at 1.75 and use the "flow %" variable to adjust by a factor that gives the correct width - though they achieve the same thing (produce the same G code) in the end, so it does no harm to adjust the filament diameter instead.

ok, I accept that the setting is the personal setting of Cash, but I need to understand the choise...

i'm new to the 3dPrinting so I need to understand every step to improve my prints.

actually here we are on the Ormerod section of the forum, so I suppose that also Cash have an Ormerod so I need to understand the choise of setting the filament diameter to 2.85 (is that volontary to compensate some Cura parameters??) also the temperature, if Cash use PLA setting the temperature to 220° is a right choise? with 190° my print seems good but I have adhesion problem with PLA that don't stick good after few layer of printing... so the 220° could be a right choise but I need to understand that.

About my doubt the retraction, I found a bug with the old setting and plugin (2.4) that at the end of the print retract the filament more than 14cm...
checking the end code on Cura it seems right but the Gcode generated, at the end have an abnormal retraction command so I came to doubt that the retraction settings of the program and that retraction setting of the plugin may have conflict problem

I don't believe you actually have Cash's presets loaded - those look like the Cura defaults.

A really easy way to check is to look at the Start GCode and see if this line is present:-

M203 X6000 Y6000 Z500 E3000 ; will allow 100mm/s sliced gcodes to work... if they have time/distance to get up to speed

If it isn't, then you're running the default settings.

Hi all,

I am also using 1,75mm Filament diameter and that should be reflected at the Cura settings! Please be sure, if you are using Cura 14.01 use the preset file from the github repository. If you are using Cura 14.03 use the preset file posted a few thread ago...
For Cura 14.03 the headers in the preset file are ending with "_0", e.g. [profile_0]. If you are using the preset file with [profile] at the beginning for Cura 14.01, Cura will not load the settings from that file!

Cheers, Frank

Edit: Also Steveup gave a good hint to find out if the correct settings are loaded! These settings are only good point to start with. Feel free to change the settings!

Hi Ew,

I outlined what I had to do to get it to run on my mac in page 1 of this thread - it should work for you too: [forums.reprap.org]

Hi guys, will the preset file ending with "_0" work with the latest Cura 14.06.1?
