Tufnols have been on my "must get" list for handy materials for a while, and what you're saying puts them higher - maybe first thing in the morning in fact
Do you know what "grade" or "brand" yours is? ( the varieties are sold as "whale brand", "carp brand", "grade 2F/14" etc) or at least whether it's paper, cloth or glass based?
Be interesting to compare oak with Dario's bamboo mod [forums.reprap.org] which looks pretty damned fine

This is the first time I've tried using non-genuine Tufnol.
It's Attwater SRBP in B4 grade, sourced on a whim from ebay. It's black, has a very nice surface finish... at least until I've abused it with the contents of the toolbox
