My 2p worth - countersunk to be avoided unless necessary - the self-centreing action just adds another potential inaccuracy problem. Not saying it will cause an issue, but no point designing one in if it's easily avoided.
Do the screws limit the available positions for the extruder, or the steel bearing tape? (Not got my machine in front of me).

I've just tried hanging the extruder on the top, and I find it most unsatisfactory. It doesn't hang at a consistent angle. The extruder is heavily weighted towards one side, and the notch with the lip is needed to hold the extruder level. So I suggest countersunk screws.

They look good, Dave. To look really sexy, they could be polished and anodised - black or electric blue anodising would look superb!

Yes that would look sweet but the price would be silly
They need some fettling with a file or carbide paper but they are not bad, only way to get better would be water jet but I just can't get the prices down into real-world figures.

I was not implying that you should supply them that way, but that people who would like a good-looking Ormerod could do the polishing and anodising after receiving them. Long ago I experimented with DIY aluminium finishing using fabric dye after anodising to colour the metal, and did not get bad results (though it's quite a bit of effort, and commercial anodising/dying is not that expensive).
Giving aluminium a brush effect is quick & easy using a wire brush wheel on a drill, and that also looks pretty good.

URGENT - PLEASE READ....
A problem has been identified with the quality of one part of the X-rib kit. The thin reinforcing rib in some cases has developed a bow or bend in it, this is caused by internal stresses in the aluminium being released when the part was cut.
If you notice that the rib does not touch the large plate evenly along its length then do NOT use it as it will bend the main X-plate and give print alignment issues.
I am contacting the cutters today to try and organise a replacement part urgently, failing that then I will arrange another method of remedying this serious issue at no cost of course.
Please note that not all parts are affected, it seems only related to the earlier buyers and as soon as it was spotted, has been fixed on all later orders.
I can only apologise for this issue and ask that you bear with me while it is sorted out to your satisfaction.
I will update here as soon as I have more information.

I forwarded images of these parts to another cutter and they confirmed that without using an argon process gas, these are fairly normal cut examples for laser and aluminium.
The trouble with using argon is that it pushes the cost up dramatically.
I probably will not be making more of these unless I can get better, all bowed ribs will be replaced at my expense, hopefully this week.

Hi Davek0974,
I need a great price (like what you've done) with a bit of work to do.....
But you can also show the right price for better quality ....
Thanks
Dario

Appreciate your efforts Davek0974
They will clean up into nice looking parts with a bit of attention in the shed, and more importantly, they will do the job - improving the ormerod
