Upgrade difficulties....
March 29, 2014 03:11PM
Just upgraded to the latest firmware and again I couldn't use the drag n drop batch file method. If I try I get a message about Bossac not being a recognised executable file or similar.

I have put the files into a root folder but no change.

The only way I can update is to use a command prompt and type the line from the batch file manually, inserting the com port and file name, tedious at best.

I'm running XP pro on a laptop.

Any suggestions how to make things easier?

Yes, copy the line (with the right firmware of cause - Edit: and COM port) before you open a command prompt in the folder with the firmware and Bossac.exe

bossac --port=COM10 -U true -e -w -v -b RepRapFirmware-057y-dc42.bin -R

right click in command prompt window and insert text, press enter, done

Save it as a text file, next time copy the firmware file name, open text file, mark up the e.g. [RepRapFirmware-057y-dc42], insert text, easy peacy

Using Windoze 8.1 here, but it's the same process as Erik said above...
Did you check to see which com port number it was in Computer/Devices?
Someone did say you can leave the comport part out of the text, but I haven't tried it.
I put the line of text in text file using notepad. Edit it to reflect the correct firmware update I want to use,
then just copy the line. Open a cmd window, change to the correct folder containing all the files, then
paste the line in and hit return.

Ok thanks, that's a step easier I guess smiling smiley

Com port is usually 3 then it changes to 4 when I press erase on the duet, after upgrade it reverts to 3.

I did over explain it, the short version is that you can paste in a windows command prompt window :-)

ditto 9-10-9

..on another note "I'm running XP pro on a laptop" - I'm on Win7 - if you ever have to upgrade to win 8 or 8.1 you will hate it, the cure is only $2.99 away
