In pronterface, if we upload config.g, does it automatically get read into the system like it does on boot up.?

Or does it only get loaded when the system is powered up.?

Hi Dave, I think the answer is No....
When you upload it, it will save as a file, but not in the sys folder I think you'll find.

You could strip the comments out of it, call it config2 (for example), then print it.
By printing it, it's the same as if you typed all the lines in.

I think Iamburny's Web Interface can save it in the sys folder, but us USB guys are stuck.

That's odd, I am using your firmware and USB and am pretty certain it saved the upload in the right place as config.g

?

Will have to test it.

Good that printing it will have the same effect as boot loading it.

Both pronterface and web upload config.sys via the same mechanism (M559) and this stores it in the sys folder. It won't be actioned till firmware restarts.

I thought so smiling smiley

But will it be actioned if printed as suggested?

But will it be actioned if printed as suggested?

As it's just a bunch of gcodes , yes. No different than sending then one code at a time.

Les

That's correct except for commands to change th IP address, gateway and network mask, which won't be actioned until the next reset.
