Ormerod hotend parts dimensions

HI All

Any idea where to find the actual drawings for the hotend parts, as the ones (Nozzel) in the software package is not the correct file.

Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Madmob

Hi Madmob

Sorry, there are a few parts like this that we need to sort out. The Bowden tube unions, one-piece nozzle and tapered nut are common between Ormerod, Mendel and Huxley kits; the files in this folder are the correct drawings: [github.com]
Except that the 'hobbed insert' in there is for the Mendel. The Ormerod hobbed insert is only available as part of the STEP file, or as a SolidWork part; both are in the Ormerod github repo: [github.com]

Hi Ian, do you have the drawings for the aluminium heater block as well?

Hi Ian

Thanks alot for the link, now only need those two alu blocks...
Manufacturing here in SA will work out cheaper than getting from the UK...

Thanks

The aluminium heater block and aluminium cooling/heatsink block are also the same as the Mendel/Huxley version - the whole hot end is shared between them, though the Ormerod has the fan and nozzle duct, and a bigger fan.

However, we've managed to hide them as well, unintentionally... it's just we haven't needed to update them for a loooooong time.

DXF and pdf files for these (heater-block and heatsink-block) are in [github.com]

The SolidWorks versions in the Ormerod 'sw' folder are all development versions, so aren't quite what is being shipped. I'll try to get the right ones put in, but I'm not sure if we'll output dxf versions of them. I'll try and get the files above collected as pdfs, at least, into a folder called 'pdf' in the Ormerod repository.

Hi Guys

As stated before, I am trying to get replacment parts manufactured here in SA to save cost..

Question, and I think it be a stupid one but this is my first dance with the laser cutters....
The DXF files, how do they scale, size wise. I sent the some of the DXF files to a Laser Cutting service, but got the reply that my files are not scaled properly.
Some come out as meters long...

Any idea, please....

Thanks

I measured mine quickly to use it as a guide for designing Big Blue.

Please send me a PM if you have suggestions, or problems with Big Blue 360.
I won't see comments in threads, as I move around to much.

I think all the dxf files are scaled in mm. What are you opening them in? Inkscape is an open source vector editing program, that can open dxf files, so you can check.

Hi Ian

Currently using OpenScad...
The laser cutters are using Corel Draw thou... seems this is where things move sideways.

Will look at Inkscape as suggested.

Thanks
