X axis does not stop when homing

X axis does not stop when homing
August 20, 2014 05:37AM
When i use the "Home All" button, the Y and Z axis works fine and goes to right position. But my X axis keep going even if it hits the end.
The Arduino has latest firmware and the sensor does work.

The X axis runs to end and keep going for about 3-4 seconds afterward. Then it stops for a moment, then start and run into the end again. After that it goes back to the right intended position above the square paper for sensor.

EDIT: Also when starting a print, it goes in the right "loading" position.

Which firmware, homing files and Z-probe are you using?

When homing the X axis, the probe uses the same value as a trigger value as that set in the Z homing, ie if you set G31 Z2 P600 in config.g, it uses '600' as the trigger for the X axis. If you move the x-carriage so that it is over the tab on the x-motor-mount, you should see the value that is being reported (in the web interface) or send G31, and check the response if using Pronterface. The instructions suggest putting a white piece of paper, or adhesive label, on the tab to improve the response. If this doesn't help, you can change the trigger value (which shouldn't be over 650).

Also, check you are getting the full range of response from the probe: [reprappro.com]

I suddenly got this problem...
then I saw mention of putting foil on the X endstop in the troubleshooting guide.

I put an adhesive white label on it which fixed it.

However, as I placed it, I got oil on my fingers from the recently oiled Z screw.....
....the oil which of course, will be spun off everywhere when the Z axis moves...
...including the X endstop and in the path of the IR sensor smiling smiley

Wipe the Z screw with a tissue to remove excess oil. You need only a tiny amount of oil on the screw.
