Z nut trap wearing out?

Z nut trap wearing out?

I have just noticed that the nut in my z nut trap is moving a bit left-right, so it does not sit tight.
Also the rod is wobbling more than usual.
Does this mean that the z nut trap wore off a bit and is in need of replacement?

I would suggest that you dismantle the treaded rod and nut immediately, inspect it and if the is treads seems ok, give it a good clean and new lubricant - and replace the nut trap

And a new and longer nut in brass is highly recommended if you haven't changed that already

I am replacing the nut trap as I type.
The rod was inspected and greased a couple of days ago, so thats taken care of.

I had to replace a Z nut trap because of wear. The last one I printed appears to be tapered as it is wider at the bottom than higher up. I'm not sure that this is deliberate, but it helps to prevent slop and allow for wear.

Not only did the Z nut trap wore out, but the nut itself was somewhat loose and could move in place (like when the ring on your finger is a bit bigger). The rod seems ok, so I just replaced the nut and it fits as it should on the rod.
