trying to reconnect on my laptop - arduino doesnt list the board

Trying to do step #1:
"Open the Arduino IDE and go to Tools->Board menu and select ‘Arduino Due (Native USB ) ’. If this is greyed out, check the device drivers have been installed."

This section is not very helpful. The proper board is not listed. How do I check the device drivers? I don't see anything in the arduino for this.

I think you have installed Arduino 1.0.x software instead of the 1.5.x, which is still officially in beta (after >1 year).

ok, that helped. I had first tried the java7 version of 1.5.8 and that crashed. The java 6 works.
But it still isn't connecting completely. Which port do I use?
None of them seem to connect...
I get errors on the modem ones and even though it opens, nothing happens using the serial monitor on the PDA syncs....
Also I see the Y-stop no longer lights up.
This is my well used Ormerod1 trying to connect using my old mac laptop.

Got it to work once I moved the laptop close enough to hook directly to the USB it worked and two more ports were listed for the printer in Arduino. The USB extension wouldn't work even though it does on my iMac. Had to put the ethercable directly into laptop to run web interface and wifi for web itself. Looks like I can print again! Woohoo! It was too quiet in here - the iMac was my stereo and the laptop sounds like it has a tin can for a speaker. Thanks for the help - so very frustration when things refuse to even try to work!
