M221 Setting, how to use
April 13, 2015 03:09PM
Hi All
Can anyone tell me the correct way to use the M221 command
Is it M221 Sxxx
or M221 xxx
I cannot seem to get results, although I have switched Slic3r`s relative off
The printer accepts the setting, but I cannot seem to detect thinner wall, even at M221 S50 !!
Tx Ben

M221 if for manually adjusting the extrusion multiplier during a print, a wall thinner than the extrusion width the slicer program sets will not be sliced, but you can force it to slice that part by setting the extrusion width a bit lower - e.g. Cura will only slice the single wall test piece if extrusion width is set at 0.49 (AFAIR) - otherwise it will just print the bottom layers, go to the top of model and vomit over the bed

Which firmware are you using? The official RRP1.04 firmware doesn't support it. My fork does (since last June), so does zpl's.

The results of sending M220 or M221 in 1.04e may be delayed by up to 2 seconds plus the time taken to complete two more moves. So the effect should be visible quite quickly
