Error reading files from SD card?

I'm commisioning an Ormerod 2
I cannot connect via the web interface
While both Ethernet and Pronterface are connected and I connect to the printer through the browser Pronterface reports:
Can't open 0:/www/reprap.htm to read, error code 1
Can't open 0:/www/html404.htm to read, error code 1
Apparently the card itself can be read, since the IP address I have entered in config.g is read
Running software 1.09

Found it, I think.
Starting from USB power = sometimes response, sometimes not
Starting from USB power, press reset on the Duet = correct config.g but no files on card
Starting from external power and then connect USB = OK
So it seems USB power is crap

The instructions state that when using the ethernet connection you have to use the external power - USB power will not do.

USB power is not reliable as it depends on your computer USB port power capabilities. It might be enough - it might not.
