Ripples at direction change
March 30, 2016 02:57PM
Hey ,i am wondering what can i do to get rid of these ripples:

I have read it can help to reduce/increase Aceleration but so far it has not helped i have tried with 400/800/1800mm/s with 1800 it seems to make it worse. I have also read jerk settings have something to do with it but dont know where to set them if i can.

The maximum jerk settings are set by M566.

M566 X1800 Y1800 Z30 E20 ; Minimum speeds mm/minute

Should i increase the values in XY direction or decrease for a better result?

Try reducing the X and Y values to reduce ringing. You may find that doing so makes circles print more slowly.

If the Y axis is left to right in your photo, check that the end of the X arm isn't wobbling from side to side, and tighten up the Z runner bearing if necessary.

How fast did you print?

Slicer: Simplify3D 4.0; sometimes CraftWare 1.14 or Cura 2.7
Delta with Duet-WiFi, FW: 1.20.1RC2; mini-sensor board by dc42 for auto-leveling
Ormerod common modifications: Mini-sensor board by dc42, aluminum X-arm, 0.4 mm nozzle E3D like, 2nd fan, Z stepper nut M5 x 15, Herringbone gears, Z-axis bearing at top, spring loaded extruder with pneumatic fitting, Y belt axis tensioner
Ormerod 2: FW: 1.19-dc42 on Duet-WiFi. own build, modifications: GT2-belts, silicone heat-bed, different motors and so on. Printed parts: bed support, (PSU holder) and Y-feet.
Ormerod 1: FW: 1.15c-dc42 on 1k Duet-Board. Modifications: Aluminium bed-support, (nearly) all parts reprinted in PLA/ ABS, and so on.

In the photo the uper side you can see is in direction along the X axis
I'll give the z bearing a try and see if it helps ,then move onto jerk settings.

35mm/s for that part. Mostly i print at 50mm/s

You may also check for cracks at the Y-idler brackets or the Z-lower mount. These parts could break easily.
