Broken PLA filament

Broken PLA filament

Hi,

Due to laziness and stupidity in the recent heat wave (in the UK) I didn't remove the filament from my Ormerod 2 while not using the machine for a few weeks. Now the PLA has degraded and attempting to withdraw the filament using the original RepRap Ltd instructions it has snapped in the Bowden tube about 5 cm above the brass ferule at the motor end. It occurs to me that it should be possible to insert new filament and then use that to push out all of the old filament, having heated up the hot end. Is this a sensible approach, the alternative as far as I can see would be to dismantle the hot end which seems a lot of effort (and risk!)

Any thoughts welcome

Dennis

Just push it through gently, it should be fine.

Thanks for the reassurance, now got a working Ormerod again.
