Swapping the plug with one with easily removable pins can't be a bad thing! Maybe a bit more chunky but doubt the extra weight is significant.

You have a good pint. The pins are more easily removable and are also has a higher current rating.

Also there is another two open slots for when I connect the part cooling fan.

Can the two fans runn off the same ground?

No, but they can share the +12V connection.
