I have been away for a while and wanted to see if there are any still using the original smartrap.

Just built one. Cost under 200 and prints reliably. Just not real fast.

I tore mine down and built a Funbot M8 with the parts.

I made a new z probe with a magnetic retract that fits the smartrap and could be adapted to others. I can post it if interested.

interrsteing ! Do you use a microswitch, a hall effect sensor or an optic sensor on top ?

I have an optical switch, but can be used with a hall sensor too

I do, although with some modifications on the extruder and Z axis.

Here are the files. You would need an 1/8 diameter steel rod 43mm in length and a 3/16 wide x 1/16 thick bar magnet. A spring or rubber band to retract the slider. And of course an optical sensor

Thanks for the files! I don't see how you make the rod drop when starting probing?

it uses a spring on the back of the slide. It moves the magnet forward when it homes out. I'll make another video tomorrow while triggering it by hand to show how it works better.

Yes. Just like that one lol I wish I had seen this before. I made mine from another one that Idanut had made with a servo.
