Has anyone built a CoreXY using fishing string instead of belts?

Thanks

RichRap released his own H-Bot / CoreXY design called the Slic3DR (?). Not sure it is a true CoreXY, but I thought he used fishing line.

I built one a few months ago. It worked but I personally prefer belts. the cost savings isn't really worth the hassle.

What I note with fish strings, it's people use them, then upgrade with timing belts anyway.

Collective intelligence emerges when a group of people work together effectively. Prusa i3 Folger (A lot of the parts are wrong, boring !)

Nicholas Seward built his CoreXZ with fishing line IIRC

Check out the F306 printer and F306 video

You could also consider Kevlar or Vectran line - I believe a 0.5 mm diameter line of these stretches about the same as a typical fibre reinforced GT2 belt (and stretches about 100 times less than 0.5 mm diameter Spectra).
