What is best single 12mm glide rail mount for single extruder on X axis of coreXY ?

Direct extruder and hotend
I don't want it hanging below (takes up too much Z space and impeads access

Does firmware / software allow for dual extruder separated in Y?

Tnx

yes, but not in the firmware. in the slider you configure where (x, y) is the second hotend in relation to the first.

I am not sure if linear rails can be mounted in any position but geometry vise you want a smallest distance between a rail and a tip of the nozzle. The higher the distance (arm) the higher stress (or oscillations) you have on your construction in case there is any force acting on the tip of the nozzle (like hitting a curled up plastic on the printed object). Based on this I would go with a design A. C seems fine also. It is hard to compare as your drawing is out of proportion.

While technically A is the best way, a 3D printer carriage typically is not heavy enough to cause excessive wear in the other orientations.

Where will the drive belt attach on the various configurations?

I think I am going to go this way
with future 2nd extruder displaced in Y

TWO trollies or ONE ?

Is ONE Trolly (37mm wide) on a 400mm 12mm track OK?

ONE trolly would give me 350mm travel on 400mm track

TWO trollies would cut that to 300mm

One bearing block can handle two extruders, but adding a second extruder means you're going to give up some X or Y build size no matter how you do it.
