While trying to get the "beta" unversal board that I ordered with Zach I found that I am running debian in a virtual machine and each time i get a java port exception error which i also get when running the reprap software in windows (with no java comm api installed). so i then did a search and found this link to a different java com api [
web.media.mit.edu] i do not know if it can be added to the install but it sounds like it is easier to get and install. mainly in windows..
I also found that when doing a com test the stepper excesier will not come up unless it at least sees the comm return on pin 3. so i found it can be a good comm port test. (i also am using a loop back tester it has pins 2 and 3 jumped) i have found it kind of handy to use to test the port comm.
