help with a project (3D printer )
March 09, 2011 11:45PM
A driver board is required to control three stepper motors for the X, Y and Z stages of a 3D printer. Apart from the motor driver circuitry a microprocessor unit will be incorporated to take input from a USB port and direct the motors and plastic extruders accordingly

i need help as to what components i should use on the driver board?
and is there more information i can get about existing 3D printers.
any help/suggestions would be highly appreciated smiling smiley

Well, there's this:

I'd suggest doing something RAMPS-ish, and then swapping in a board of your own design when you're past the hello world stage with the rest of your setup.

I'd suggest meeting up with your fellow developers at
Aus. Brisbane RUG
Brisbane Hackerspace

These folk may be able to help do up a machine or two with you:

Yup.

You probably want to do up a Gen 6, RAMPS, or gen 3 Remix, etc. etc.

Ask in the irc channel. And don't forget to start lurking in the reprap-dev mailing list.
