Ramps LCD Smart controller Temperature uncontrollable raise!
June 19, 2013 08:30AM
Hi,
I have set up my LCD Smart Controller.
It is connected, it reads temperature. It does the x,y,z homing.

But I have some problems:

1) when I set the PLA preheating it does not stop at 180 Celsius. It continues to raise, more than 250 °C!

2) If I change the PLA preating values nothing changes, it always display 180°C.

3) it detects that I inserted an SD Card but I can't see anything inside (I have copied in the root a .gcode file and created a folder).

Any suggestion?
thank you,
Gaetano

Update:

I can set the bed temperature from the software (if I attach ti the usb cable). It stay at 60°C.
But I have no control on Extruder temperature.

I have formatted the SD card in msdos-fat but again I can't see any files inside it.

HI
it happens when you start to print, or with direct commands?
If it happens when you start a print, check the start.gcode file... maybe you have there 250º
Check your NTC resistor sensor... at 20ºC must have 100kohms. but check what kind of resistor you have, and look for a table here in the web.

Thanks Novato for the reply.
The SD card is not accessible so I can't "launch" any gcode...
The problem occurs when I launch "preheat for PLA" and it goes very high in temperature even though the limit is set to 180.

dos the problem only occur when preheating?
try running it form your pc and set the heat from there, what happens then?

what firmware are you running on.
i am having a similar problem with my smartcontoller and Ramps 1.4 with marlin 1.0 and 1.0.1
