PLA Warping

Hi all,

I've just built my first Prusa (ABSPrusa) and I must say I am amazed! My first print was amazing and the 2nd and 3rd just as good. However, I've noticed that the corners of my prints are warping slightly.

I'm printing with PLA
I'm using a heatbed (@60C)
I'm printing directly on to glass.
I'm printing my PLA @200C

Could anyone offer any tips on preventing the warping? Should I print on to Kapton tape?

Many thanks,

Keukpa

I've attached the print that warped.

You can play with the bed temperature and first layer temperature, I've personally never had any luck with PLA directly on glass, all my large prints warped like yours.
I don't have the issue with PLA on Kapton, and PLA on blue painters tape sticks way too much, but I'll use it if I definitively can't have curling.

Thanks for the tips.

I've put some Kapton on the glass, so going to see how that prints.

I must say, I'm very impressed to have this working currently as well as it does!

Cheers,

You should only need glass for PLA. Try dropping the temperature to 55C. It needs to be below the glass transition temperature.

Make sure the glass is cleaned between prints, I do mine before each print starts, use something like rubbing alcohol I use methylated spirits and my PLA sticks amazingly well

I never use any heated platform for PLA print, just scotch tape at platform and cooler this is enought. Optimal temperature to start with PLA is 220C later you can decrase it slowly and see results smiling smiley
