Heated Bed Thermistor question

HI everyone,
I am having issues with the thermistor reading on my MKS Base board. I am actaully not getting any reading from it what so ever. I do not have the heated bed plugged in to the power. I have 2 heating pads and plugged the thermistors in for both of them thinking that I had a bad thermistor. Do you have to plug the power in for a thermistor to register?

No, you don't need the heated bed to get a reading from the thermistor. If you want to test it, use a digital volt meter in resistance mode. use the 200k range and hook it up. At room temperature it should read between 90 and 120k ohm. Also check the connector and wiring/soldering. It may have a broken lead somewhere. If it reads 0, it means the connector doesn't see a resistor, ie the resistance is infinite. If it's shorted it would read 500 degrees IIRC, and you get a warning HIGH TEMP.

I'm not sure what you mean by heating pads and what it would resolve.
