Nut Trap vs Brass inserts

Nut Trap vs Brass inserts

Sorry if this has been brought up before.

I'm having issues with nut traps not printing clean leaving me with round holes.
To use the part and not throw it away, I have used heat pressed brass inserts.

M3 Brass threaded press in inserts.

This got me thinking, is there a reason why nuts were used in the design instead of Brass inserts?

What design?
Is the round hole problem hardware or software related?
What have you done to find the source of the error?

If you can get a nicely-dimensioned hex trap, you probably don't need heat or much pressure to insert a nut, so they're nominally easier to use. Being smaller, they're easier to integrate into compact or complex designs. They're also more readily available, not a separate line item to procure on the BOM when there are other places you'll be using hex nuts anyway, and around 10% the unit cost.

I'm holding it down to the fact my X-Axis tensioner was broke.

Patched together a failed print enough to print a new replacement.
