Hi everybody,
I'm building my first 3d printer as a school project and the last part i need is the stepper motors. I want to use 17HS8401 motors but their rated current is 1.8A. If i have a RAMPS 1.4 and A4988 drivers, am I going to be able to run 5 of them?

yes, no problem.

The listed current on steppers is math based for dc conditions.. its does not use 1.8amps constantly

You will want a fan on your pololu modules.

Stepper drivers control the current. Even if your motor is specified for more current than your driver, it will only draw the current the driver is set to. In worst case you are just underutilizing the motor.
