How to test electronics?

How to test electronics?

I ordered a set of electronics from reprapdiscount. I am still working on designing my printer so I mainly wanted them for size comparison for now. However, I have heard some people say that a couple the stepper drivers they got from reprapdiscount were faulty. I will soon be getting a power supply for it, when I do is there a dummy firmware out there that will turn the steppers back and forth so I can see that the drivers (and the used motors I bought) work? I do not yet have an extruder, but would like to test the parts I do have so I can request refunds/replacements for faulty parts.

The RAMPS I got from RRD came with test firmware on it. It rotates all the motors backwards and forwards and seems to print out the analogue values for the two thermistor ports.

Good to know, the product description said no firmware. I haven't checked to see though. Guess I'll find out when I get a power supply.

I think you can do this if you use pronterface by running them manually, can't you?

I would have to configure and flash firmware. To control the motors with a computer. It would be nice if there was a demo package like nophead mentioned.

When I build my RAMPS 1.4 last year I used the test code from here which cycles the steppers and heaters (It might send the thermistor values, but I honestly never checked).
It's probably the test code which nophead's was shipped with smiling smiley

i am writing "no firmware" because the firmware in the boards is a test firmware which is not usable for printer, it's really just for test functionality
however, you should not be afraid, if there are any problems, replacement comes fast. there is no one can complain about our replacement policy sofwar, i think.

How long do you offer replacements? I have not been able to obtain a power supply yet. So I have not been able to test.
