Need some help with a prusa buy.
February 10, 2013 04:00AM
Hello, this is my first build and it is going to be a prusa mendel v2. I have bought these parts and would like to know how to buy the wades extruder. I am confused on what parts to buy because i was purchasing the parts off of the list on reprap but it got kind of confusing when i was going to buy an extruder and the part where it heats and pushes the filament through. Here is the parts i have bought.

Reprap Prusa Mendel Plastic Kit V2(I2) Complete... LM8UU Version

I'm not sure of your exact question: depending on your extruder they are typically broken into two main parts the hot end and the cold. The cold end consists of a nema 17 stepper, a larger gear, a smaller gear, washers, nuts, hobbled bolt and mounting bolts. The hot end is a little more difficult because there are so many different designs. If you have any other questions feel free to message me. If you want to get a basic idea of how they work I have posted info here.

I would buy an Arcol hotend, a LulzBot´s Budaschnozzle (based on Arcol) or a J-Head...they are far better than the original. The Wade´s cold-end (printed parts+NEMA motor+hobbed bolt) is quite standard...but I recommend replacing the plain gear+pulley with "stoffel15" herringbone gear+pulley on Thingiverse.
