Pronterface Slic3r not printing some models

Hello.

I'm printing with a prusa mendel with Melzi, and using pronterface with Slic3r to print. While Slic3r does properly generate code for some models, others it is incapable (or I know not how to make it) of doing so.

For example, when printing a companion cube I modeled myself:

It prints a similar model without top nor bottom.

but when I use this model from Thingeverse:

[puu.sh]

It prints successfully (without raft, but still relative success).

And then with models like this gauntlet finger:

[puu.sh]

as the whole finger:

[puu.sh]

and as only the middle segment:

[puu.sh]


So, if anyone knows how I can properly do this, please educate me. While printing a bunch of little companion cubes is great, I want to print my own things >.>

You should probably post the gcode or stl files (or both).

If you create a file, and it wont print, the first thing I'd look for is holes in the geometry. The item needs to present to the slicer as a solid, holes will be a problem. Your geometry looks clean with a quick visual inspection, but it is intricate, it is possible that a fault might be missed. Have you rendered the object on screen?

Also, while I have no idea what the "rendering" process of Sketchup may be, I have extensively checked the inside of the model for stray planes, and am confident in saying i got most, if not all of them.

There were problems with the file.
I repaired it using the FREE netfabb Studio Basic program.
